I haven't finished writing this page, but you can get started on the following:

We'll be using lead-acid batteries in the solar power systems we'll be building. Thus, I'd like you to know something about this type of battery. And, we need our own Web page with information about lead-acid batteries.

Using your own words, make a Web page that provides concise information about deep-cycle lead-acid batteries. Then, e-mail the Web page to me.

To create the page, you can use the Nvu Web page editor that is on most computers in our lab. This editor is freeware, and you can have a copy for home.

Be sure to cover the following topics:
  • Open-circuit voltage for a fully charged battery.
  • Open-circuit voltage for a battery that is considered fully discharged (but not totally dead, with zero volts).
  • Normal charging voltage
  • Voltage at which gassing starts to occur.
  • Voltages for various states of charge (i.e., using voltage to determine how much charge is left in the battery).
  • What are the differences between car batteries, marine/RV batteries, and deep-cycle batteries (such as golf-cart and fork-lift batteries).
  • Safety
