Definitions
- Receptacle: A contact device installed at the outlet for the connection of an attachment plug.
- Yoke: The metal or
polycarbonate mounting strap on which a wiring device or devices are
attached. The yoke in turn is attached to a device box or device cover
with No. 6-32 screws. One yoke may have one, two, or three wiring
devices attached to it.

Boxes
- Receptacle outlets: At least 6 inches of wire from where wires enter the box.
- Receptacle outlets: At least 3 inches of wire from the front edge of the box (where the opening is less than 8 inches in any dimension).
- Must be securely mounted and fastened in place.
- Where conduit, electrical-metallic tubing,
nonmetallic-sheathed cable, Type AC cable, or other cables are
installed, a box or conduit body must be installed at each conductor
splice connection point, outlet, switch point, junction point, or pull
point.
